A Continuation
March 6, 2011
Unlike other times in my life when I ended my writing hiatus with epic titles that screamed out “A NEW BEGINNING” and “YET ANOTHER BEGINNING” to the world, I choose this time to call it a continuation. After all, a ‘beginning’ implies something new, and there is hardly anything new about this blog or my sudden fits to write. It’s also a silent hope that I will actually keep this blog going for more than 2 months this time, in which case the ‘Continuation’ will become a Beginning. Wouldn’t that be splendid?
As with all other times I chose to start writing again, it is under pressure of deadlines that I do so. Despite taking only three classes, not writing a thesis and not doing managerial work anymore, I am still struggling to find time to study for tomorrow’s midterm and a paper proposal the next day. Not to mention the perpetual search for jobs that is driving me mad with anxiety and sadness. Methinks the lack of responsibility is making me procrastinate more than ever.
Unlike other times, however, I had the encouragement of my professor who, in our last class implored all of us to get a Twitter account and/or blog. Well, I got a Twitter account, but haven’t looked at it since. Like one who has been out of touch with the rest of the world in a very long time, I currently follow three entities: BBC, CNN and Huffington Post – just because they were on the first page that came up with “News”.
In other news, I am now writing this post using Ubuntu, an operating system alternative to (and better than) Windows and Mac. It’s a happy combination of the two, and this particular one was written specifically for netbooks, which is amazing. Although somewhat disgruntled by the lack of a OneNote alternative, I’ll survive. Besides, it’s not like I was fully utilizing it anyway. It will just be another positive adjustment in life.
For now, I’m off to read about colonial Latin America.
